Abstract

In recent years, the use of drones has significantly expanded in different fields. This led to a new technology called the Internet of Drones (IoD) evolving. With the widespread use of this technology, it has become vulnerable to many cyber-attacks, so securing this technology has become critical. This survey paper offers a thorough summary of the current security state of the IoD. It studies and analyzes the recent related research papers that propose different IoD security solutions, including authentication methods, intrusion detection systems, blockchain-based solutions, and encryption methods, highlights their findings, and identifies their common security gaps. Moreover, it provides the future IoDs security research directions. This paper serves the researchers by providing them with recent IoD-related security issues and gaps, thus allowing them to effectively direct their efforts.
