abstract = "Nowadays, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) is one of the major network security threats. It is a type of attack that occurs when multiple botnets are used to Hood the network with a large amount of traffic. This Hooding overwhelms the server, rendering the services unavailable for legitimate users. The complexity of DDoS attacks necessitates an effective defense strategy to maintain a reliable system state. In this paper, we explored different classifications of DDoS attacks. A comprehensive literature review has been conducted on the techniques used in defending against such attacks. Furthermore, we analyzed the discussed defense approaches by presenting a comparison table, which helps in providing a thorough overview highlighting each approach's strengths and weaknesses.",
