Dowry deaths, a pressing issue within society, have significant implications in the realm of forensic and legal medicine. This chapter explores the phenomenon of dowry deaths, providing insights into its forensic implications and exploring the legal framework surrounding it. Dowry deaths refer to unfortunate occurrences in which women lose their lives owing to dowry-related violence inflicted on them by their marital families. Understanding the prevalence and regional context of dowry deaths is crucial to comprehending the complexities associated with investigating and addressing this problem. By delving into the historical context, legal aspects, investigative procedures, and support mechanisms, this chapter sheds light on the multifaceted dimensions of dowry deaths and pertinent considerations within forensic and legal medicine.
