Abstract
Saudi Arabia is the largest country in the Middle East and the second-largest Arab nation. It has a unique legal system that originated from Islamic law. With its ongoing Vision 2030 development plan, Saudi Arabia is rapidly transforming in many aspects including healthcare and the legal system. The autopsy is not favorable in Saudi Arabia based on culture and religious background. Therefore, medico-legal autopsy is limited to suspicious and criminal deaths. This chapter aims to overview the current medico-legal death investigation and forensic medicine practice in Saudi Arabia with historical background.
