Abstract
The most argumentative point in the context of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) learning-teaching pedagogy has always been: How to bring the level of ESP materials and methodology up to the educational expectations of the students as well as the expectations of the prospective work fields and business organizations. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a newly contrived ESP model, henceforth known as the “Real-life ESP Model” (RESPM), as a potential alternative to the models in current use. The concept of the evolving RESPM is based on the rapidly growing demand for a more workplace-oriented model that addresses the students' educational expectations and positions them closest to their future real-life and workplace practices. The paper draws an outline of the causative elements of impracticability and the major challenges facing the current ESP models. This is followed by a brief description of the RESPM and its implications for discourse materials, pedagogy, as well as assessment.
