EVALUATING STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND NOISE ANALYSIS OF RESILIENT COMMERCIAL RC STRUCTURES IN SAUDI ARABIAN SHORELINE

Abstract

In recent decades, there has been a tendency to escalate resilient infrastructure construction in the shoreline areas of the Arab region. Dealing with the reinforced concrete structures, particularly in shoreline environments, consistently presents challenges related to life wellbeing, justifiable performance, and economic productivity. Therefore, evaluation of the structural integrity of multi-storied buildings in the shoreline region of Saudi Arabia, specifically in response to an unstable soil environment, is the prime target of the study. The structural design process includes an assessment of the horizontal components, such as flat slab concrete systems and beams, as well as the vertical supporting elements, including columns and shear walls. The multi-story reinforced concrete structures in the Dammam region of Saudi Arabia have been modeled and analyzed using the CSI ETABS software, while the foundation analysis has been conducted with the CSI SAFE program. The Saudi Building Code specifies the construction parameters for multi-storied structures (SBC 301, 2024). These constructions are built on relatively weak soil in the shoreline region of Dammam city, Saudi Arabia. These structures are designed to withstand forces exerted by the surrounding environment. A comparison has been made to assess the impact of varying building heights on the overall weight of the structures and the required reinforcement steel. Furthermore, a NOISE (Needs, Opportunities, Improvements, Strengths, and Exceptions) analysis has been carried out to assess and contrast the benefits and drawbacks of structural solutions in light of real-world limitations.
